A few weeks ago Funga visited Refugio Terraza de la Tierra. It consists of many modest cabins on a hill looking at the mystical, foggy mountains of San Jose del Pacifico. This little town, eight thousand feet above sea level, has become a popular destination for travellers because of the magic mushrooms that grow in the wild. At Terraza, there is no electricity, so as soon as it gets dark, the only light source comes from candles and a fireplace in every room. They also offer yoga every morning and afternoon, a temazcal, and have a lovely restaurant serving wholesome vegan dishes. The pine forests create a peaceful environment for hikes, and in the evenings, the clouds settle low into the mountains for stunning views of the setting sun above the clouds.
It is the perfect place to spend a few nights away from technology and enjoy complete submergence in nature.
