“When you feel less guilty, immediately you start feeling happier. When you feel happier, you feel less in conflict, more harmonious – together. When you feel together, more harmonious, suddenly you feel a certain grace surrounding you. These things function like a chain reaction: one starts the other, the other starts another, and they go on spreading.”
When I encountered the following passage in an Osho book, it immediately resonated with me. Guilt is an emotion I have carried and struggled with for as long as I can remember. Whether it stems from my Catholic upbringing or my striving for perfectionism, I cannot say for certain, but it is there. A favorite saying to live by is “everything in moderation, including moderation” (Oscar Wilde). It reminds me not to hold on too tightly and that the occasional indulgence is good for the heart and soul.
In Osho´s words, here is to moving “into a new light, into a new consciousness, where you can unguilt yourself. And then many more things will follow.”
