Before moving to CDMX, I traveled with a few friends around the country. San Agustinillo will forever hold a very special place in my heart, as it was our first stop. I had no concrete plans at that very transitionary point in my life and had booked a one-way ticket and decided to see if I could make it work in Mexico. Seeing the extensive range of places and experiences this country had to offer before coming to the city was a big motivation to stay. There is a reason so many people gravitate to this land. It has a uniquely grounding energy that makes you feel held and at home. Coming from New York and London, I was also very taken by the Mexican attitude – overwhelmingly happy and generous people.

San Agustinillo is a wonderful small fishing village in the state of Oaxaca. I spent a dreamy few days eating delicious seafood, watching whales and dolphins migrate, and attending sunrise yoga classes. We stayed in an open palapa with a beautiful view of the whole beach.
