Little Miss Sunshine

While not the first film that would come to mind when thinking about a “psychedelic film,” Little Miss Sunshine is one of my all-time favorites, and I have long wanted to share it on Funga. Not only do I find it incredibly funny, but there are such important life lessons and pearls of wisdom spread throughout the movie. Most importantly, it is also one of the most beautiful depictions of a family unit I have seen on screen. It reminds me of the bond I share with my family, who are equally unhinged.

I particularly love the relationship between the little girl and her grandfather, played so brilliantly by Alan Arkin. I have added a scene that touches me deeply, and I feel is a good reminder for everyone:

Another moment I would like to highlight is when Dwayne (Paul Dano) talks to his uncle about finding a way to pursue his dream no matter what obstacles he faces. I truly believe that attitude makes everything possible in life.

“If I wanna fly, I’ll find a way to fly. You do what you love and f**k the rest.”
