Ever since witnessing Hamilton Morris deliver a lecture at Wonderland in Miami, I’ve been unable to shake him from my mind. His eloquence and captivating presence, coupled with his profound understanding of science and psychedelics, left a lasting impression. Without a doubt, he’s someone worth keeping an eye on and a pivotal figure in the discourse on psychedelics.

 

 

Hamilton Morris, born in 1987, is an American journalist, documentarian, and scientific researcher. Renowned as the creator and director of the television series “Hamilton’s Pharmacopeia,” Morris delves into the chemistry, history, and cultural impact of various psychoactive drugs.

Born in New York City and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Hamilton’s true passion emerged during his college days at the University of Chicago and The New School. While still a college sophomore, Hamilton began his writing career with Vice magazine. His monthly print column, “Hamilton’s Pharmacopeia,” soon evolved into a series of articles and documentaries for VBS.tv, exploring the intricate science behind psychoactive drugs.

Currently, Morris is a correspondent and producer for Vice on HBO, as well as a contributor to Harper’s Magazine. Since 2021, he has also been hired as a full-time consultant at Compass Pathways, where he primarily works at the Compass Discovery Center, situated at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USciences) in the United States. His focus involves advising Compass on research pertaining to emerging psychedelic compounds that hold potential for development into therapies addressing unmet needs in mental health.
