Meditation & Breathwork
JAN 2023
“The Kototama Principle was perfected many ages ago by our human ancestors. It is the principle of human life in its totality, the principle that governs the life of the universe. It is the law of the operation of human capacity, its derivation, manifestation, and action.” – Mikoto Masahilo Nakazono, Inochi
A central part of my week has become participating in General´s Prim morning mediation in CDMX, which the wonderful Tracie Storey, otherwise known as Tensuhi, recorded. She utilizes the practice of Kototama.
Tracie also hosts retreats, offers Qi Gong courses, and many more meditation classes on Elemental Resonance. You should look at her site and follow all the incredible things she provides.
This bespoke meditation by Tensuhi of Elemental Resonance features music from her meditation album (find here) as well as the profound sound work of ‘Kototama’ 言霊 – the Japanese belief that mystical powers dwell in words and names. Translations of this practice include the “soul of language,” “sacred sound,” and the “power of language.” The practice can help improve our health and well-being and lead us to be the human ‘vibrational beings’ that we are if we can learn to connect to our deepest selves and align with the principles of Kototama in our life. Life energy starts to awaken and begins to flow throughout your body. This practice’s Kototama sounds are connected to grounding, expansion, and alignment. We can thank Morihei Ueshiba (founder of Aikido) and Sensei Nakazono, a disciple Ueshiba who brought the work to the west and then over to Master Fabien Maman (Tensuhi’s teacher.)
You can find the Tensuhi x Funga meditation for the platform below. It is short and perfect to fit in at any point of the day. I have found the practice of using your vocals within the meditation extremely powerful in that it instantly brings you inner balance and calm. I am very honored to collaborate with Tensuhi and am so excited to share the resulting video with my Funga community.
